It has been almost one year since I published this article about Dr. Cat, the pet lounge bistrot of Brescia and, after the first success of the italian article, I decided to translate it in English.
It is the first local in Brescia (and second in Lombardy) inside which there are several kittens running around freely, playing and snoozing inside the premises.
The bar opened a year ago in Prealpino, right in that complex of shops just outside the metro station of the same name, and was clearly a huge success right from the start, to the point that it is compulsory to book a table at the weekend.
The place not only offers an original experience, but is also really well furnished and offers a wide menu: from simple coffee to restaurant-style dishes. For those who are afraid of getting cat hair at brunch at this point, don’t be alarmed: the kitchen is precluded to kittens, it is insulated by large windows that allow you to see inside, and the place is in any case frequently cleaned of hair by a robot hoover.
Clearly there are rules for being in the restaurant: no other animals may be brought in, if there are children, it is preferable that they do not make too much noise, you must not pick up cats, molest them or give them food. The owners of the bar – the cats I mean – are all kittens, so they are used to people and are very affectionate and playful, so there is no need to chase or tease them. They will come to study their new guests and will probably jump up on the tables to pry at what the humans are up to (or rather, eating).
A word of warning: it will be difficult to have deep conversations (or at least complete them) in that bar, the attention span will be pretty low! On my instagram page you can see those little snouts, responsible for so many distractions and without the slightest guilt!
